International Education Centre, IEC, is a Norwegian educational consultancy representing universities in England, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, USA, New Zealand and Australia. We provide information and counselling free of charge to the students and act as a link between the student and the universities. We assist the universities with building up academic relations as well as marketing activities in Norway. In addition we provide assistance for Norwegian educational institutions with the administration of their study abroad programs.
IEC was founded in 1995 and sent the first group of students to the first semester in 1996. In 1997 we recruited 330 students and have since enjoyed a steady growth. As of 2002, IEC has sent over 4 000 Norwegian students to our partner universities. IEC is registered as a private company under the relevant laws of Norway. Our main office is in the centre of Oslo and we have branch offices in the city centres of Bergen, Trondheim, and Tromsų. IEC?s staff in Norway constitutes of 20 full-time and 2 part-time.
In 2001, IEC expanded its operations and established IEC Online offices in Germany and Finland. In Germany, the head office is in Berlin with representation throughout the country by way of 6 regional managers. IEC Online, Germany represents universities in Australia, New Zealand, England and USA. The first German students started in July 2001. In Finland, IEC Online established an office in Helsinki in October, and sent the first group of students to Australia in February 2002. IEC Online, Finland represents universities in Australia and England.
